Importance of Euglycemia before IVF

In vitro fertilization (IVF) is one of the significant and effective treatments of infertility when other methods of assisted reproductive technology (ART) have failed. IVF is a simple surgical procedure where the egg is fertilized with the sperm outside the body in vitro (in glass). The fertilized embryo would then be transferred into the uterus for implantation.

IVF is an answer to couples who are struggling with infertility. Sometimes the glucose content in the blood may or may not be an obstacle to their dream. Euglycemia is a normal condition of having glucose in the blood. By controlling blood sugar levels and inculcating a good lifestyle can make the mother healthier, which could help to have a healthy baby.

Preparing for pregnancy

The major step while you prepare for your dream is to consult the right doctor and accept the advice. The doctor might recommend the following:
  • Change in medication - certain medications used to treat diabetes and blood pressure will have to switch before conceiving for safety measures.
  • Treatment for complicated situations - it is better to address certain issues such as high blood pressure, nerve or kidney diseases and diabetes beforehand that could get aggravated during pregnancy.
  • Control the blood sugar level - to prevent diabetes complications; it is recommended to control the blood sugar level as close to normal.
  • Healthy diet - a dietician can recommend the required healthy diet that will balance with pregnancy and diabetes.
  • Be active - physical activity can affect the blood sugar level hence, recommended to do some physical activity or exercise after consulting the doctor.
  • Managing stress - the doctors advise that expectant mothers to control stress as it has an impact on blood sugar level.
  • Consult a specialist - consult the doctors when in need.
It is crucial to keep the blood sugar level stable during pregnancy. Babies born to parents with diabetes are usually large or born with birth defects. In the long term, babies might also develop diabetes. Hence, it is a necessity to keep the blood sugar level or euglycemia under control while planning for a baby.

Accept the advice from the doctor for a good result. A healthy baby is worth waiting for, and at Genesis Fertility, the doctor suggests the best treatment practices during IVF.

An IVF cycle includes various procedures that help a woman to conceive. The final step of the IVF process is embryo transfer. During this stage, for the better chances of embryo implant “Embryo Glue” is used.

What is Embryo Glue?

Embryo Glue is a compound which is made up of hyaluronan that contains all the nutrients that the embryo needs at the time of implantation. Hyaluronan is a natural substance found in tissues of the body and it is a key component which is helpful for implantation and embryo development.

How Embryo Glue is beneficial for IVF patients?

Embryo Glue has been clinically used since 2003 and it has helped thousands of IVF patients in delivering a healthy child. It is mostly recommended to people who have failed in the previous attempts of the IVF treatment and to people with unexplained infertility. Embryo Glue is beneficial for IVF patients in the following ways:
  • Embryo Glue is enriched with nutrients and energy that supports the embryo. during transfer and implantation.During the embryo transfer, it needs a medium that resembles the environment of the womb. Thus, the embryo is placed in embryo glue and then it is transferred.
  • The highest level of hyaluronan in embryo glue imitates the natural environment in the womb at the time of implantation and this paves the way for a successful pregnancy.
  • Embryo Glue is a thick fluid that protects the embryo during transfer and minimizes movement of the embryo inside the uterus.
  • Hyaluronan which is present in Embryo Glue binds the special molecules of the inner wall of womb and embryo and acts as a bridge between them.
  • With the use of Embryo Glue in IVF treatment, implantation, pregnancy rates, and live birth rates have drastically raised.

What Are The Common Misconceptions About IVF?

Pregnancy success rates have improved because of major advances in fertility treatment. IVF is now more mainstream and accessible. However, there are still many misconceptions about IVF.

Myth #1: IVF diminishes your ovarian reserve.

Your body recruits a group of eggs at the beginning of each cycle that could get stimulated that month. Normally only one ovulates and matures, while the others die. All the eggs that are naturally recruited that month get stimulated with IVF, so they all get an opportunity to mature. Nothing happens to the other eggs that are in the ovaries.

Myth #2: Ovarian stimulation might lead to cancer.

It is safe for an egg donor to donate eggs up to six cycles.

Myth #3: In IVF there is little control of ovarian hyperstimulation.

It is possible to predict the right dose of medications using simple ways. The ovarian response is controlled by dose adjustments in real time. Further, to facilitate an effective and safe release of eggs different medications can be used. An experienced IVF center is skilled at prevention. Since it is easily and effectively managed, a patient with ovarian hyperstimulation is rarely hospitalized today.

Myth #4: There is a higher risk of multiple gestations (twins, triplets, or more) with IVF.

It is possible to control the number of embryos to be implanted during IVF treatment. But this is not possible with oral or injectable medications with intercourse or insemination.

With continuous research and innovation, and advances in technology there are now very effective ways to reduce the risk of multiples, prevent ovarian hyperstimulation, and choose the best and healthiest embryos to result in a pregnancy.

It is best to not allow the myths to influence your decision making when it comes to fertility treatment. To get the information you need to determine if fertility treatment is the right option for you to talk to a fertility specialist.
